From 2005-2008 we supported the Council of Australian Government’s (COAG) Skills Recognition Steering Committee and Skills Recognition Taskforce to implement a major COAG initiative to achieve full and effective mutual recognition of occupational licenses.
This included providing:
• Strategic advice on the development of COAG’s Skills Recognition initiative.
• Research on mutual recognition, compliance and vocational education and training (VET) sector issues related to priority occupations.
• Development of a methodology for achieving full and effective mutual recognition of industry licensing and the alignment of industry licensing systems with the national VTE system·
• Assisting with the facilitation of Action Group and Working Group meetings. ·
• Production of a range of research papers dealing with the mutual recognition of industry licensing and skills recognition matters.
• Generally advice on mutual recognition and VET issues.
The outcome of the initiative was a range of Ministerial Declarations that declare the equivalence of specified licensed occupations between jurisdictions.
