We provided secretariat services and policy advice to the BreastScreen Australia (BSA) National Quality Management Committee (NQMC) for seven years. The NQMC is responsible for:
- managing the BSA National Accreditation System, which involves assessing the performance of BSA Services/ State Coordination Units against the National Accreditation Standards (NAS)
- the strategic leadership of national quality improvement within the BSA program.
During this time we supported 28 NQMC meetings, a number of national workshops and numerous working groups. A large part of our secretariat work involved supporting the development or improvement of BSA accreditation policy.
Importantly, we assisted the NQMC to successfully implement a revised accreditation system and to deal with the significant impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the national program.
We also provided secretariat services and policy advice to the BSA Program Management Group (PMG). PMG comprises the Program Managers from states and territories who manage the BreastScreen Australia Program within jurisdictions. PMG met regularly to discuss breast screening issues affecting the national program. In addition, we provided secretariat services to PMG's Clinical Advisory Committee, which met 3-4 times per annum.
